CST101 is a collaboration between Ryan Hurst and Andy Fossett. Both live in Osaka, Japan and have a passion for health and a background in martial arts. That’s about where the similarities end.
Just as CST achieves its results by combining various modes of training in a way that creates a synergistic effect, CST101 combines the unique talents and insights of two very different personalities.
Coach Ryan Hurst
CST Faculty Coach Ryan Hurst is the founder of CST Japan and co-author (with CST Coach Jarlo Ilano) of the Prasara Primer. RMAX founder Coach Scott Sonnon said of Ryan’s last training program “I can’t add much more to the brilliance of this program…”
Ryan practiced and competed in gymnastics from a young age, and eventually became interested in martial arts. That interest lead him to Japan, were he has competed in multiple arts, including Kendo and Judo. While at university, Ryan was introduced to the practice of Yoga, which became an extremely important part of his life. Ryan’s found his devoted daily practice of the asanas and meditation not only helped him advance physically, but more importantly mentally. He is now one of the world’s foremost proponents of Prasara Yoga.
Ryan specializes in complete body transformation, and brings years of experience as an athlete and professional trainer to the table. In CST101, Ryan is responsible or program design, exercise instruction, nutrition coaching, and wearing orange shirts. He’ll also be leading the weekly Q&A sessions in which course participants will be encouraged to pick his brain about health and training topics. In certain courses, Ryan will also be providing direct instruction through weekly video reviews.
When Ryan isn’t teaching CST, you can find him hiking or running the trails of Rokko and Mino Mountain, practicing Shorinji Kempo, or just chilling with his wife and their two young children.
If you want to learn CST from one of most knowledgeable and experienced coaches in the world, working with Ryan in CST101 might be your best opportunity.
Andy Fossett
Andy Fossett is a certified CST Instructor and independent writer and educator who also followed his interest in martial arts to Japan and ended up getting married in Osaka.
Since taking it up as a child, Andy has practiced and taught the martial art of Taido on four continents and written about it extensively online and in international print publications. Since originally moving to Japan in 2003, he’s taught students and professionals of all ages in various academic subjects, specializing in test preparation.
Having discovered RMAX’s Warrior Wellness (now Intu-Flow) program in 2005, Andy attended the very first CST seminar in Japan and was immediately hooked on Clubbells. He became a CST Instructor in 2009.
Where Ryan’s talent is body transformation, Andy is all about process transformation. Still a two-year-old at heart, he loves to ask “why.” Besides annoying his friends, this tendency has taught Andy a lot about how things work, and more importantly, how they don’t. In CST101 courses, Andy’s job is building the support structures and processes that ensure that each member gets results. He’s also responsible for musical direction and making terrible jokes.
Throughout the programs, Andy will manage the accountability processes, assign homework, and take care of the technical side of things. He’s also going to be devoting a lot of energy to depriving each member of excuses and opportunities for failure.
